After making up the song ”Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm” inspired by the “Mmm…mmm…mmm…” part of the song “Pride (In The Name of Love)” which I wrote and recorded by U2, I decided to name a band Crash Test Dummies.
The first boy was inspired by the character in A Nightmare on Elm Street, Nancy Thompson (played by Heather Langenkamp), suddenly starts to turn white after Freddie Kruger torments her in her dreams in 1984.
The girl in the song is inspired by being born with birthmarks on my right arm in the shape of a tree and behind my left ear in the shape of a broken heart. I became aware of others who were born with Port-wine stain such as that visible on the head of Mikhail Gorbachev, one of the most famous individuals with such a birthmark.
The third boy was inspired by a friend who dated a girl who of the Pentecostal belief and witnessed a home meeting of members.
